About Us

Temasek Cares CLG Ltd is an Institution of a Public Character set up in 2009 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Temasek Holdings. Backed by two endowments from Temasek Holdings of S$100million and S$70million respectively, Temasek Cares aims to improve the lives of underprivileged individuals, families and communities in Singapore.

Temasek Cares expects to tap a percentage of the total endowment each year to fund its programmes. By working with various established charities, Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), Non-profit Organisations (NPOs), government agencies, Ministries and other institutions, we hope to support programmes that contribute to the well-being, dignity, and livelihood of our beneficiaries.

The establishment of Temasek Cares re-affirms and extends Temasek’s commitment to the wider community in Singapore. It also amplifies the volunteer spirit of the Temasek staff and complements current contributions of other Temasek-linked non-profit organisations such as Temasek Foundation (TF), Singapore Technologies Endowment Programmes (STEP), Singapore Millennium Foundation (SMF), Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL).

Mission and Role

The purpose and mission of Temasek Cares is to contribute to the well-being, dignity and livelihood of underprivileged individuals, families and communities in Singapore. It aims to do so through the following thrusts:

Building People
Through support with dignity for individuals and families in times of need;

Building Capability
Through education, training and other initiatives to improve opportunities for livelihood;

Building Community
Through fostering racial and religious harmony and promoting understanding across cultures and languages for the underprivileged, poor and needy; and

Rebuilding Lives
Through a helping hand for another chance for the disadvantaged individuals, families or communities

In carrying out its mission, Temasek Cares seeks to partner with various established organisations to support existing programmes, or to develop needed new programmes .  As a community co-investor, Temasek Cares looks to join with other donors to complement  the efforts of the Government as part of the "Many Helping Hands" approach to helping the less fortunate.  As a catalyst, we hope to support new programmes or models that can bring about better outcomes to those in need.  As a leader, we hope to inspire and attract other donors to worthy causes which are under-served and which could do with more support.
